About this play
The S in attack-attack-skip-attack-attack. Why the opposite corner lifts to the window the moment the driver breaks the drop zone: the help side sinks to stop the ball, and the one place a defender can't both help and recover to is the weak-side wing. The skip is a one-dribble jump pass thrown overhead from the drag zone, and every skip is an automatic post entry, because the post who was sealing for the dump now has his man on his back facing the weak side. Counter shown: the scouted defense recovers to the shooter and runs him off the line, so 3 takes one dribble middle for the angle, enters to 5 ducking in, and 5 scores with a drop step; if X5 fronts, the trailer dives to the back-side block for the high-low. Rule: any time the ball is on one wing, the other wing is on a diagonal. Everything here is from Coach's Clipboard's Running the Dribble-Drive Motion and the Walberg DVD notes on hoopsplaybook.ca; read them if you want the rest of the second-side reads.
