Drill: Tip Drill (McHale Taps)
line of 5 waits,
one ball
1
2
3
1 steps under the right side of the rim and tosses the ball high off the glass above the square, then sets his feet to jump, because the first toss sets the height for every tip that follows and a low toss kills the line.
1 jumps and tips it back onto the glass with his right hand at the top of his jump, left hand reaching for the rim, then runs to the back of the line; 2 is already stepping under, because the next man has to be in the air before the ball comes down.
2 tips it once, high on the glass, and clears to the back; 3 takes it next. Nobody catches and nobody lets it hit the floor, so the count only grows if every jump is on time.
The last man in the set, 3, times the ball and gathers it with two hands under the rim instead of tipping, because the set ends with a score and a rebounder who can tip can also catch.
3 goes straight back up and scores off the glass. Then the line switches to the left side and the left hand, so the weak hand gets the same count and the same timing.
