Same Chin picture, post high at the left elbow: 1 passes guard to guard to 2, because the reversal is the trigger and nothing else in Chin moves until it happens.
2 passes to 4 on the right wing; as the ball leaves his hands 5 gets ready to step up, because the chin cut is timed to the flight of the second pass.
5 steps up and back screens X1 at the left elbow, because a defender watching the ball travel to the wing is the easiest man on the floor to screen.
1 chin cuts off the back side of the screen to the far side of the rim; the read is X1 going ball side, so 4 looks to throw over the top, because a defender on the ball side of a back screen cannot get to the lob.
X5 drops off the screener to take the cutter at the rim, so 4 holds. 1 clears through to the left corner and 5 moves across to the ball-side elbow, because the post's second job in Chin is the drift screen.
5 sets the drift screen on X2, back to the top of the key, because the angle gives 2 the fade and the curl from one screen and X2 can only take one of them.
The scouted adjustment: X2 locks onto 2 and trails over the top of the drift screen to take the fade away. Counter: 2 curls the drift to the rim, because a defender who goes over the top has put the screener between himself and the basket.
Counter finished: 4 feeds 2 on the curl, and the pass comes late by design, because the cutter has to clear the screener's hip before the lane is open; X5 cannot help without leaving 5 at the elbow.
2 finishes the layup; the defense took the fade away and the curl was the price, which is why the drift is read, never pre-decided.
