Why the zoom here: the defense is matching up on the run, and a pin-down into a handoff is two screens it has not seen coming.
1 passes ahead to 5 trailing at the top and 4 drops from the wing toward the right corner to pin down for 3. Why the big gets it: the handoff runs through him, and a trailing big catches with his defender still sprinting back.
4 sets the pin-down on X3 in the corner. Why the screen is set facing 5: the receiver has to come off it straight into the handoff.
3 sprints around the pin-down toward the wing as 5 dribbles at him. The read is X3: trailing over the screen. Why the speed: Coach's Clipboard's rule is that the receiver cuts around the handoff at high speed, and in transition the defender is slower than he is.

4 lays it in. Score. Why the slip is the zoom's safety valve: a defense that overplays the receiver has to leave the screener, and the screener is one step from the rim.
