Drill: Screen-and-Roll 2v0 into 2v2 Reads

2v0 first, the defenders waiting at the sideline for their turn. 5 passes from the block to 1 at the wing, because the screener follows his own pass into the screen and the pass sets the timing.
5 sprints to set the ball screen on the top shoulder of 1's imagined defender, feet set, wide, arms in, so the screen is legal and still there when the handler arrives.
1 sets up away, then dribbles tight off 5's hip toward the middle, shoulder to hip, because the gap between the handler and the screener is exactly where a defender slides through.
5 rolls after contact in a straight line to the rim, pivoting toward the ball with the ball-side hand up, because a roll that drifts wide or starts early gives the pocket pass nowhere to go.
1 delivers the pocket pass, a bounce pass low off the hip, because the handler's eyes have to find the roller before they find the rim.
5 finishes off two feet; both lines switch sides so the roll is learned from both blocks and the handler from both wings.
Now 2v2: X1 and X5 step in, 1 and 5 reset, and 5 passes to the wing again, because the reads only mean something against defenders who choose.
5 sets the same screen on X1's top shoulder and holds it still on contact, so the defense has to make a choice: over the screen or under it.
X1 goes over the screen and X5 drops to contain, so 1 turns the corner: the over read is attack downhill or pull up at the elbow, because the defender behind him cannot contest either.
1 pulls up at the elbow with X1 trailing; the point is that the handler read the on-ball defender first, before he ever looked at the roll.
