Zone Offense: Stack Lob and Its Counter vs 2-3

The stack: 4 and 5 stacked on the left low lane line, 3 in the right short corner, 2 on the right wing, 1 at the top. Why the stack is on the lane line: it sits in the middle defender's area, and he cannot front two players at once.
1 passes to 2 and the zone shifts right. 3 cuts from the right short corner under the stack to the left corner, pulling X3 the left forward out with him. Why 3 goes under: the forward has to find him, and a forward in the corner is a forward away from the rim.
2 passes straight back to 1, who does not dribble. The zone shifts back and X5 the middle turns to the ball, which is the read. Why no dribble: the pass back is what makes the middle turn, and a dribble lets him set his feet.
4 steps out of the stack and back-screens X5 the middle. Why screen the middle and not the forward: the lob is going to the rim, and the middle is the rim's defender; the forward is already in the corner with 3.
5 cuts around 4's screen to the rim. Why the cut goes around and not over: the screen is on the middle's back, and the cutter arrives on the side the middle cannot turn to.
1 throws the two-handed overhead lob to 5 at the rim. Why the lob: X5 is screened and X4 is on the far side of the lane, so the only pass is over the top.
5 catches and finishes. Score. Why Stack-2 works on a shifted zone: the middle has just turned, the forward has just left, and the screen takes the one defender who was left.
Next trip, the adjustment: the zone overplays the stack, X5 fronting 5 and X3 sitting on 4, to stop the lob. Reset: 4 and 5 stacked, 3 in the right short corner, 2 on the wing, ball to 1. Why the zone does this: it has decided the stack is the play and is guarding the players, not the areas.
Stack-3 begins exactly like the lob: 1 passes to 2, 3 cuts under to the left corner, and 2 passes back to 1. This time 2 slides lazily down toward the right corner after his pass. The read for the counter: the inside defenders are overplaying 4 and 5 and nobody is watching 2. Why lazy: a slow drift is a cut the zone ignores.
2 passes back to 1 and drifts down to the right corner; 1 dribbles left. Why the dribble left this time: it pulls the top guards left and leaves the right side of the lane with only X4.
The counter: 1 dribbles left, pulling both top guards with him and leaving the right side of the lane to the overplaying inside men. Why the dribble: it takes the guards out of the lob's path before the screens are set.
4 and 5 both step out of the stack and back-screen the two inside defenders, X5 and X4. Why screen both: the overplay put two defenders on the stack, so the stack screens both of them.
2 cuts in from the right corner behind both screens to the rim. Why the cut comes from the corner: the overplay has every inside defender facing the stack, and the corner is behind all of them.
1 throws the lob to 2 at the rim. Why 2: he is the player the overplay forgot, and the two defenders who could meet him are screened.
2 catches the lob and scores. Score. Why the pair is in the series: the lob punishes a zone that guards areas, and the counter punishes one that starts guarding players.
