Drill: 3-Man 2-Ball Shooting
two balls,
one minute,
no dribble
1
2
3
1 shoots from the right wing with no dribble while 2 holds the second ball at the free throw line and 3 waits in the lane, because the whole point of two balls is that the shooter never stands still waiting for one.
3 slides under the rim for the rebound, the coaching point being that he never lets the passer wait: his eyes are on 2, not on the shooter, so the ball is back in the passer's hands in one motion.
The ball comes off the rim to 3 and 1 sprints to the left wing cone, running to the spot and squaring on arrival with hands ready, because a shooter who arrives sideways catches late and shoots fading.
3 passes to 2 at the free throw line, never to the shooter, because the passer has to have a ball ready so the shooter gets the same feed every time.
2 feeds 1 at the left wing with the pass hitting the shooting pocket as the feet set; the passer's timing is the drill, because a late pass makes the shooter catch flat-footed and an early one makes him catch moving.
1 shoots at the left wing, then sprints back to the right wing and repeats for the full minute before the three rotate, which is why the drill makes shooters fit as well as accurate.
