Drill: Elbow to Elbow (Knight)
1:00 clock,
two balls:
15 of 25
1
2
3
1 fakes a step left, then changes pace and cuts to the right elbow with his hands up showing a target, because the passer throws to the target, not to the player, and a cutter at one speed is easy to feed late.
2 delivers a lead pass so the ball and 1 arrive at the right elbow together, the coaching point being the pass to the shooting pocket, so the shooter catches ready to lift and never has to bring the ball up.
1 plants the inside foot, squares, and shoots, landing where he took off, because drifting sideways on the catch is the mistake this drill was built to expose.
3 slides under the rim for the rebound while 1 holds his finish for a beat; the rebounder's job is to count attempts and feed the passer, so the passer is never standing without a ball.
The ball comes off the rim to 3 and 1 sprints in a straight line back to the left elbow, because the shortest path between elbows is the one that gets twenty-five shots into the minute.
3 passes the ball back to 2 in the circle, never to the shooter, because 2 has to have the second ball in his hands the instant 1 arrives at the elbow.
2 leads 1 into the left elbow with the pass, counting makes as he goes; if the passer is late the shooter catches standing, which is why the passer starts his throw as the shooter pushes off.
1 shoots at the left elbow and keeps running elbow to elbow until the minute is up, then the three rotate, because every player should shoot, feed, and rebound in the same drill.
