Diamond Press Break: Four Across When Denied

Four across against a denying diamond: the receivers walk their defenders down toward the baseline, because a shorter pass is a safer pass and it drags the wings out of the lanes they want to sit in.
Counter to the denial: 4 sprints down and screens X2, because a screened denier can't watch the ball and the cutter at once; the read is which way X2 fights it, and 1 goes the other way.
1 cuts off the screen to the corner and 4 seals and opens to the ball; the counter gives 3 two targets off one screen, which is why the five-count never gets close against a denial.
3 inbounds to 1 in the corner; X2 is behind the play, so X4 releases and sprints to trap with him while X1 sprints to the middle. The press is a count late because the screen cost it a step.
The trap arrives on the corner anyway; 3 steps in on the weak lane line and 4 fills the middle behind the front line, because the two outlets a trap can't cover are backward and middle.
1 passes back to 3 stepping in, because that is the rule out of every trap: the retreat pass is always there and the diamond concedes it to protect the middle.
3 swings it to 2 on the far side before the press can reset, because the ball moves faster than X1 can get back from the middle; 5 runs ahead up the sideline so the next pass is already waiting.
2 attacks the open sideline with the dribble; X3 has to leave the middle to stop him and X5 is alone against two runners, which is why 4 lifts into the middle of the frontcourt: the numbers are already there.
2 passes ahead to 4 in the middle of the frontcourt, because the middle is the one spot a press can't recover to; the ball is past half court with a live dribble.
4 drives the paint; X5 has to step up because he is the only defender back, which is why 5 slides to the ball-side block.
X5 commits to the ball, so 4 drops it to 5 at the block, because one defender can't guard two men under the rim.
5 finishes the layup; the denial was beaten by one screen and three passes, which is why the press break is rules, not plays.
