Drill: Superman
line waits
behind the
block
1
1 starts on the right block facing the glass and throws the ball high and angled off the board so it carries to the left side, then sprints across the lane after it, because the ball never waits and neither does he.
He catches at the top of his jump with two hands and lands in the square outside the lane, chins the ball with elbows out, then throws it back off the glass to the right and goes again, so the ball is never below the chin.
Third catch, back across to the left. The jump has to be timed so the catch is at the highest point, because a ball caught on the way down is a ball a defender can take.
Fourth catch, back to the right. Landing outside the lane each time is the coaching point: a rebounder who lands narrow and inside has no base and gets knocked off the ball.
Fifth catch: he lands wide on the left again, this time inside power position, and gathers, because the last rebound of the set is the one that gets scored.
He explodes straight up off two feet and finishes the power layup, or dunks it, so the rep ends the way a rebound should: with two points.
