Drill: Drop Step and Up-and-Under Series (Block Series)
balls wait on
both blocks
1
2
3
A ball waits a step above each block, 2 and 3 are the rebounders, and 1 sprints from under the rim to the left block and jump-stops over the ball with two feet, because a two-foot stop leaves him either foot as a pivot.
1 picks the ball up to his chin, sells the middle with a head-and-shoulder fake, then drop steps: the outside leg reaches long toward the baseline past the defender's foot and one power dribble follows, because a short step seals nobody.
1 finishes off two feet with the left hand off the glass, because a two-foot finish holds up through contact and the backboard forgives a hard power move.
1 sprints back under the rim and V-cuts to the right block while 3 re-places a ball on the left block, because the sprint is what keeps the drill at game speed instead of a walk-through.
Mirrored: 1 pivots on the left foot, fakes middle, and drop steps baseline with one power dribble to the right side, so the move is equal from both blocks and no defender can sit on his strong side.
Right-hand power layup off the glass off two feet; the point is the same finish from either block, body between the ball and the imagined defender.
Round three: 1 sprints back to the left block for the up-and-under, because the counter has to come from the same jump stop and the same fake the drop step came from.
1 turns and faces on his pivot foot, shows the ball high in a shot fake, and steps through with the free foot to the rim; he stays on the pivot foot until the step-through, otherwise it is a travel.
1 finishes the step-through off the glass, which is why the fake matters: a defender who left his feet for it cannot contest a shot a step closer to the rim.
