1 has the ball under the first basket with the rebounding line behind him. 2 sprints in from the left sideline outlet line and 3 takes off up the right lane, because the outlet has to be moving when the ball arrives, not standing at the sideline.
1 outlets to 2 on the move, chest high, so the catch never slows him down; an outlet thrown over the receiver's head is the first thing that costs a layup. 3 keeps running the right sideline.
2 takes one or two dribbles to the middle of the floor and 3 gets to the right wing ahead of the ball, because the pass ahead is only there if the runner beats the ball down the floor.
2 passes ahead to 3 with no extra dribble, which is why the drill counts layups and not seconds: a dribble that could have been a pass is the tempo leak. 1 goes to the back of the outlet line.
3 finishes the layup off the glass at game speed, because a missed layup in the Speed drill is two lost: the make and the time to chase it.
4 snatches the ball out of the net before it hits the floor. 2 follows his pass, circles the cone at the right arc tight, and turns upcourt, so the cone turn happens at full speed and not in a wide loop; 5 steps in from the far outlet line.
4 outlets to 5 and 2 sprints back up the right sideline past the second cone, ahead of the ball again; 3 joins the rebounding line, because the drill only flows if every player moves to his next job without being told.
5 pitches ahead to 2 for the layup at the first basket; shooter joins the rebounding line, rebounder the outlet line, so the lines reset and the next ball is already moving. Two minutes, twenty-eight makes.
